Corvette’s Strategy into NFTs: Just Floor It..?

In the summer of 2021, Chevy launched an NFT and officially joined the craze. The single NFT (a dreamy bidding war) presented the winner with a 2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 in lime green. The winner also "owned the color", according to the terms and agreements: "GM agrees that it will not apply this Color to another production vehicle 2023 Corvette Z06." So rare!

Good news = an attempt at innovation.

Bad news = the intention was so bad, not a single bid was submitted during the 5-day window.

Points of Failures:

• No roadmap
• Not community driven. A desire for a bidding war sounds greedy.
• Hype marketing & no clear value communication

Here is what they could have done instead…

• Launch multiple NFTs, allow more people a part of the experience vs. 1.
